The Saga of Wikileaks

Wikileaks has been at the center of some stiff controversy lately after a judge issued an order for the main domain name for wikileaks to be REMOVED from the root dns servers.

While this hasn't affected the availability of the website using a different top-level-domain extension (e.g. using another country code suffix instead of the typicaly .com or .org).

Some other information has come to light about the site, including some speculation that the servers behind wiki leaks may be stored in an underground ex-military bunker!

The latest update in the saga is now the free speech activist-type organizations that are actually pressing the judge that first issued the order to rescind it.

Its quite unprecedented to do this, and in fact, has shone a big spot-light on the site - and the information that was attempted to be censored which are documents that prove a bank based in Switzerland helps organizations hide & launder money through specific operational techniques (the likes of which were documented in the leaked documents).

Pakistan Election Winners Push Musharraf to Convene "Hostile New Parliament"

On February 18, a parliamentary election was held in Pakistan.  The winners of the election have yet to convene in their first legislative session.  The election winners have already begun to call for a complete resignation of Musharraf though it remains to be seen how this situation plays out.

When the parliament does eventually convene, that is, if they do, Musharraf will be facing a very hostile group of players.  To his credit though, he has been very embracing of a slow "succession of power" throughout the previous months.  He clearly still holds his grip on power, but he recently stepped down as the leader of the military, and was replaced by one of his own lackeys.  So technically, he only remains as a political and diplomatic figure in the rule of the country.

One reason why Pakistan has been so closely watched is that the US Government is sending foreign aid to Pakistan, quite literally in the Billions of dollars very similar to the US support of Saudi Arabia.  What is scary about this is that upon receipt by the Pakistani's, the money evaporates.  There is no money trail and no accounting of what entities end up with these funds.  All the US Government is given is a promise, by the great Musharraf himself that these funds will go to helping fight in the War on Terror and keeping the violent Taliban at bay along the Pakistan-Afgani border.

Justice Dept. Asked to Investigate Roger Clemens

In what may be the single most important testimony given to congress this year, Roger Clemens' trainer testified before a legislative committee.

Clemens' personal trainer testified he gave Clemens steroid injects which contrasts from Clemens' own testimony in which he rejects the claims.  Upon the closure of this highly important legislative session, the Justice Department was asked to launch into an investigation of the issues that were testified on.  Why hasn't the Justice Department been asked to investigate the oil companies and their "revenue stream" of $77 thousand dollars per hour.
